How Do I Restrict the Ability to View My Website?

I have been trying to locate where to get my website off public glare as i update, it still remains online. What should I do, can I view it privately?

Hello, Thanks for the question about taking your website offline. The domain name is something that should stay live and accessible. However, what you show to the public can change. You should either use a plugin (depending on how you built your website), or create a single page to replace the first page that appears when your viewers access your website. The first page is generally the index page. You can create a replacement page (also called an "Under Construction or Coming Soon Page") to show to customers. These pages are can be easily created by plugins called "maintenance mode" plugins. It just depends on what you used to create your website.
