I tried to use apt-get, but I got:
root@vps149** [~/public_html]# apt-get install build-essential
-bash: apt-get: command not found

I already signed in using my root password, isn't it linux based server?

Hello hopewise,

Thank you for your question about the apt-get command. The "apt-get" command is debian where as our servers are RHEL.

You should instead use the "yum" command.

Since there is no build-essentials on CentOS, this external post may be helpful, as it provides an alternative. Although, I recommend checking to make sure it meets your specific needs.

If you have any further questions, feel free to post them below.

Thank you,

John-Paul
