Thanks for posting your question regarding preventing images from being scaled. I'm sorry to see that you are struggling with this. Generally, this is controlled by the software you used to design your website with. However, you should be able to edit the photo to scale it how you want it to appear on your website, rather than using the full-size image.

Thanks for the reply! Here's some more deets. I'm using Wordpress with Divi (Elegant Themes) and currently have no plugins. I uninstalled Wordpress and reinstalled it with the Divi theme and I am still seeing the same issue. My developer thinks the issue might be with the srcset function. Any uploaded image is automatically scaled down and has the suffix -1280x followed by whatever the proportionally scaled height is when width is set to 1280.

No problem! Since you're using a third party (paid) theme, you may be able to reach out to them to determine if their theme requires any steps that are specific to it. Unfortunately, their Support requires a login, so I am unable to check on your behalf.
However, in WordPress, you should be able to add the image to the page/post using an Image Block. Then on the sidebar to the right, change the Image Size. Unfortunately, we do not have an article/guide to show you how to do this in WordPress, however, the instructions below should guide you.
To add an Image Block:
To change the Image Size:
After adding the Image Block, the Block editor will appear on the right and you can select the Image Size from the drop-down menu.
Be sure to save your changes by clicking on the Update button for the page/post.
