Domain Transfer: old host annoying

I recently moved to InMotionHosting and now I'm trying to move my domain over too. Part of the process means I have to turn off domain privacy at my old host's control panel. However, after changing it to public, it soon returns to private. This stops me from being able to complete the domain transfer walkthrough at InMotion. I've put in a question to support at my old host, but so far haven't received a response. I'm looking for any advice or information about this issue. Am I at their mercy?

Hello AronCT, While you will need to await your current registrar to turn off the privacy, you are not without recourse if they refuse. They must act under rules set forth by ICANN. There are specific forms you can file if they do not comply with your transfer request. I would give the registrar another chance, things can get messed up here and there at times, so I would not view it as an act of non-compliance just yet. But if you decide that it may be, feel free to use this link to contact ICANN for action. Kindest Regards, Scott M
