do i need a dedicated ip for my wordpress multisite if im using domain mapping?
I am trying create a network of identical wordpress sites with minimal personalized edits to each site. with the option of using your own domain name and email address

Hello Imonkou, Thanks for the question. A dedicated IP address is not required for a WordPress Multisite installation. We have a tutorial that explains about WordPress MU, but the main thing to consider is that it gives you the advantage to:
  • Setup and manage multiple websites
  • Manage shared users over multiple sites
  • Share customization at the Theme level (your posts and pages are not automatically copied between the sites
  • Manage plugins across multiple sites
  • Manage updates across multiple sites
So you can use WordPress Multisite to create multiple WordPress sites that are almost completely identical (the URL would not be), but the maintenance of the site's content would require a duplication of effort for the posts and pages that you want to appear in every site. However, the good news is that you can accomplish this using a plugin.
