We currently don't have any documentation ourselves on installing Magento themes, but the official documentation from Magento does a pretty good job at explaining what's necessary in their working with Magento themes article. The particular section on Assigning interface and theme to the store is where you'd want to take a look if you already have a new Magento theme picked out.
