Hi,
I have a site that I have denied access to , well, at least have of the IP's in one foreign country. I keep having to add IP's. This is a wordpress site. Even though these bots or whatever have been denied access, they continue to hammer the site and actually slow down my other (main) site. or at least it appear like that. So, How do I stop this from occurring. Ideas are welcome.

Hello [email protected], I was recently considering this myself for my Wordpress site. The best way to keep bots from hammering your site is to require authentication for whoever signs in - this means that a human being would have to read the page and then acknowledge or manually plug-in something in order for the comment/post to be registered. It's either that or REQUIRE that only registered users be allowed to leave comments. Fortunately, there are many plugins that do the job for Wordpress. Personally, I like the reCaptcha ones, here's one that may be do the job for you: WP ReCaptcha The description introduces you to what the reCaptcha does. You can activate it for your comments. There many other types of authentication schemes, but it will be up to you on which one meets your need. If you have any further questions, please contact technical support or leave a comment at the bottom of the page. Regards, Arnel C.
