need help with a spam bomb issue

I have followed the help pages about how to prevent spam from showing up in my contact area on my blog site. I no longer have notifications sent to my email and the spam comments are not accessible to the public from my blog site.
BUT the comments still keep coming for me to deal with, send to spam, and delete.
How can I get the spam to stop but not prevent authentic comments from coming?
This is distressing.
Thanks for your help

Hi phelpsmusictherapy, Thanks for posting your question. I'm more than happy to assist you today. There's a few plugins to can install and use to help you. WordPress has a plugin called "Cookie for Comments" which places a cookie on the visitors computer. If the cookie isn't present when they post a comment, the comment is marked as spam. Also, WordPress comes with Akismet already installed. You should use this to help Spam as well. Here's the link to the plugin page: Akismet Plugin for WordPress You can also look at using a captcha plugin for commenting and you contact form. Here's a link to a captcha plugin that has got good reviews: Captcha Plugin I hope this helps! If you need further assistance please feel free to contact us. Thanks! Tim S
