How do I transfer a SSL certificate from my previous hosting company?

I have sucessfully moved my website to Inmotion temp location from my old hosting provider. But before I change nameservers on the domain, I need to get dedicated SSL working. Here's my situation: I have a dedicated SSL Certificate that I purchased from Geotrust that is good until August which is installed on the old host. Can that SSL Cert be transferred to the new Inmotion host? Or do I have to buy another one? I see in the old host, I have the option to download it.

Hi bizphone,

Thanks for posting your question. I'm more than happy to assist you today. As long as you have the same key on the server here that is on the old server, it will work. However, the certificate must be compatible with cPanel, Apache, mod_ssl, or RedHat Linux.

Also, since the SSL is domain name specific, you won't be able to use the SSL until the domain is pointed to your account here.

If you'd like to continue, you'll need to retrieve the files associated with the SSL and email our support department. Please verify your account in the email by providing either the last four digits of the credit card on file or the current AMP password.

Support can be emailed at: [email protected]

If you need further assistance please feel free to contact us.

Thanks!
