When my Inmotion mail server and my Outlook 2021 desktop client (IMAP) sync, it uses the server as "Master". How can I have my local Outlook sync as "Master" to the IMAP server?

Hello russell,

Thank you for contacting us regarding syncing your Outlook client to the InMotion server. With IMAP all of your email folders should already be synced to match your client. You can transfer emails to your InMotion server by selecting them and copying them to an IMAP folder. They should then be uploaded and available to any email client that is connected to the server via IMAP.

Thank you,

John-Paul

Thanks for the reply. That is what I would expect, but when I copy emails from an external PST file into my Inmotion account Inbox through Outlook, the contents on the server Inbox are mirrored to my local client resulting in a loss of the messages I had just copied to my local Inbox.  Every time that I perform a Send/Receive from Outlook, it always updates my local client with exactly what's on the server and deletes the new emails that I copied to my local Inbox.  I see this happening in real time as I also have a browser connected through cPanel showing my email account on the server.  Yes, the mailbox account is configured as IMAP and not as POP.

You should be able to create a new folder with a new name (other than INBOX), for example, a folder called Backup. Then, store the emails there and they should not be overwritten. Your mail logs may provide additional clues about your connection and the transmissions that are occurring.

Since this does not sound like typical behavior, if your problems persist I recommend contacting our Live Support team so they can help you in realtime and view your specific account.
