website development, changes to existing, rebuild

One of my employees developed a website for me 3 - 4 years ago, nd there it sits.  I need to change / update / or trash and renew.  The instructions he left way back then said for me to login (somewhere) enter wp-admin.exe and go ahead and make any changes, etc.  It doesn't seem to work..... So, short of throwing up my arms in despair, what need I do to even find the files, get in nd manipulate them?  I'm at a loss.  I am a pretty good Architect (buildings), but Architecture (electronic) does tend to throw me for a loop.  A how to for dummies would work.  it would need to be fairly comprehensive, because I am not sure exactly what questions to ask as I proceed....

Hello Kyle,

Thank you for your question regarding WordPress site recovery. Based on the information provided, it sounds like you may need to reset the WordPress administrator password in order to login and make changes to the site. To do this, you should be able to navigate to your domain name followed by /wp-admin to access the login page. From there you can log into the site dashboard if you have the username and password or select the option to retrieve your password. I recommend reviewing the following guide for more information on resetting your WordPress password:

It also contains a number of links to other WordPress articles that can help you learn to use the WordPress software to make changes to your site. I hope this information helps, please let us know if you have any further questions, we are happy to assist.
