How to Troubleshoot cPanel Backup Errors?

Please, I made a full backup of my Cpanel sometime ago with this link (https://secure260.inmotionhosting.com:2083/?goto_app=Backups_Home) sent to me by inmotion. Right now, the account has expired. But before the expiration date, I applied for a transfer of the domain name account (rochmac.com) to another registry. And now, I have been trying to restore the Cpanel backup but keep getting this error

gzip: stdin: not in gzip format

/usr/bin/gtar: Child returned status 1

/usr/bin/gtar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

Hello Kelechi,

Thank you for your reply. Based on the error provided, it seems that the archive file may be corrupted or was not generated successfully. I recommend generating a fresh copy of the backup and trying again.

Best Regards,

Alyssa K.

Please, are you a member of the Inmotion Technical Support Team. If you are, could you please, help me with fixing the problem. Because I have already been trying to do that from my AMP but the system could not log me in. I tried recovering the password but to no avail. I need help please.

Hello Kelechi,

Thank you for your question regarding cPanel backups. Based on the information provided it appears that the backup file is not the correct format. Please ensure that it is a .tar.gz file before attempting to restore it.
