thanks for the quick response. A couple of more related questions:

.1) How do they access cpanel without going through AMP?

.2) The developer can access FTP via Cpanel,so is it necessary to set-up a new FTP user/password?
Duplicates 2
New developer, i need access to cpanel

Hello, I'm being asked to redesign a site that's hosted by Inmotion. The client has lost touch with the original developer and does not have the login credentials. Please let me know what can be done. Thanks.

SSH access for developer

I have a developer whom I have given FTP access to VPS server.

I would like him to be able to collaborate via git which requires SSH access.
I can login with my own credentials (my IP is on the firewalll whitelist) but when I use his i cannot get in

So i want to enabel other users to connect via SSH (e.g., Putty) to the server (and have access only to the subdomain of their account).

Hello! I spoke to one of our Systems Administrators, and there is really no easy way to set this up in the manner you are describing. By default anyone with cPanel SSH access is going to have access to the entire cPanel.

It is possible that your System Administrator could set up an Access Control List (ACL) to limit someone through a series of permission, but that would be very custom code and difficult to set up reliably.

If I may I'd advise you to approach the problem in a different way. cPanel is designed to divide things up into individual cPanel accounts and keep those accounts sectioned off from each other. Simply create a new cPanel account in WHM specifically for that domain or subdomain. As long as that domain/subdomain is isolated from the other accounts, you can just provide SSH access for that individual cPanel. That is much more in line with how cPanel developers normally solve this problem and considerably easier to implement. I hope that helps!

Quote from Dolores_en_reñaca

Sounds like a great solution, but in WHM I am not offered the option to create a new account (i followed the video instructions and when I type "create" I don't have the option to do so)

If you still can't do this with root access, I recommend you contact Live Support directly for further assistance..

Hi Steve55, Thanks for posting your additional questions. I'm more than happy to help you today. The developers can access cPanel by going to yourdomain.com/cpanel and replacing yourdomain.com with your actual domain. Here's an article outlining the different ways to access cPanel: How to log into cPanel As for your second question, there's a few different answers. Your cPanel username and password can actually be used as FTP credentials. There's no need to create another FTP account, especially since they will have access to creating FTP accounts in cPanel anyways. If they wanted you to create a special FTP account for them to use, you could certainly do this as well. Here's an article about creating FTP accounts: Creating FTP accounts in cPanel The link above has a flash video on the page. There's no sound on the videos however it will show you the steps to creating a new FTP account in cPanel. If you need further assistance please feel free to contact us. Thanks! Tim S
