I keep getting a message which says "Something went wrong and Outlook couldn't save your account settings." How do I fix this to retrieve my email?
With one of the email addresses setup on my shared hosting, I cannot access my email via Outlook because I keep getting a message which says "Something went wrong and Outlook couldn't save your account settings. Please try again." I have tried numerous times using the instructions provided on the Inmotion Hosting instructions. How do I fix this to retrieve my email?
Inmotion chat support said they couldn't help because "it's an Outlook problem." Fortunately, I was able to find a solution that worked for me online. I'm entering here for those who encounter the same message. If you are dealing with a similar situation, here's what you can do...
If you're trying to make your changes from File -> Account settings, try doing it from Send & Receive settings instead.
1. From inside Outlook, Press Ctrl+Alt+S
2. Click Edit
3. Select/click the account you want to update, then click "Account Properties"
Make your changes from there and you should avoid the "Something went wrong..." message and be able to save your changes and access your email again. Good luck!
