Hi, I am trying ftp of linux machine ip (Ubuntu) from windows machine (Windows 7) using command prompt. But it failed with error "530 Login or password incorrect! login failed". I am sure that entered login credentials are correct. It happens only on that windows machine. If I try the same on another windows machine, it works. Please help on trigger point to check the reason for login failure.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us about connecting with FTP from your Windows command prompt. It seems that you've done some good troubleshooting by trying two different systems.

Another good troubleshooting step would be to test your connection with an FTP client, like Filezilla. Here's our guide on how to set that up: https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/website/ftp-client-setup/configuring-your-site-in-filezilla

Filezilla has a "Quick Connect" option, which simplifies the configuration process.

For FTP in any client or command line you will only need three credentials: hostname (for which you can use a domain name or an IP address), username, and password.

If you're seeing an authentication error (Login or password incorrect) then you can also try resetting the passwords.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Best,
Christopher M.
