How do I remove the sidebar on WordPress search results page?

Using WP 4.4 and Divi Builder Theme. Menu has a Search function that works fine, but the Search Results go to a default WordPress page with a Sidebar that is irrelevant to my site (it's not a blog). I've found Google results that tell me to modify the search.php page to remove the sidebar, but can't find that. Anyone know a way to remove the Sidebar from the generic WP Search Results page?

I've tried modifying the code in the Divi Themes Editor, but that has no result. I think this is a generic WP search results issue, not a theme issue. (But I'm a WP noobie.)

Thanks very much.

Hello moose, Thank you for your contacting us about removing a sidebar from the search results page on the Divi Builder Theme for WordPress. We are happy to help you troubleshoot further, but will need some additional information. Since I am unable to test this theme without purchasing it; can you provide a link to your search result page so we can see the issue? The only public post I could find from the theme developer (regarding this topic) is an unanswered comment here, but it may be helpful to search in their members only forum dedicated to the Divi theme. If you have any further questions, feel free to post them below. Thank you, John-Paul
