Can I FTP through a browser?

trying to create a link on our site that would allow a user to upload/download files through a browser.
1. I have created a user/pass through ftp.
2. I have a link on my site that points to ftp.domainname.com
3. When clicked, the browser asks for a user name and password
4. I enter the user/pass and it fails to authenticate. I have tried multiple different ways to do this.
Anyone have an idea of what I am doing wrong?

Hello, Thank you for contacting us about allowing a user to FTP through a browser. Downloading is simple, since anyone can download a file from your server (as long as it is in a public location). For more information, see our guide on How to find the Document Root for your website / What directory should I put my files in? Uploading presents some security issues, since it could allow someone to introduce unwanted files to your server. Such as viruses, hacks, malware, etc. Since it seems your site was built in Joomla, a possible solution could be to create a limited user group that is able to upload via the Admin dashboard. Alternately, you may be able to setup a file submission via email. This would require a custom-coded/developed solution. Let us know if you have any further questions. Thank you, John-Paul
