How to Open a Port on Our Dedicated Server

I am trying to use rsync from our local Windows server to our InMotion Dedicated server. This apparaently requires the dedicated server to be listening on port 873. As far as I can tell, the port is closed (I used netstat -tuplen to look at active internet connection).

Do I have the ability to open the port on the server, or must I ask my InMotion management team to do so?

Hello Marc, Thank you for contacting us about opening a port on a dedicated server. You can open a port via SSH, but it will require root access to your server. Typically, you would connect to rsync with SSH credentials, which uses port 22 much like sftp. If you need assistance, you can submit a ticket request to Live Support, asking for assistance.
