Update Option Not Available In Wordpress

Hello all,

When Wordpress releases updates, they will post a notification on the dashboard in Wordpress. And we can proceed to /wp-admin/update-core.php to update it.

For my case, the notification doesn't appear, and the option to update in /wp-admin/update-core.php is totally missing. In /wp-admin/update-core.php, there are 3 sections - 1) Wordpress, 2) plugins & 3) themes. When I land on that page, all I see are #2 & #3. The #1 section is missing altogether and therefore I have no idea on how to update it.

FYI, I'm hosting on Inmotion's VPS-2000. I installed the Wordpress with an one-click install 8 months ago. Inmotion Support denied that my host plan has Softculous on it and therefore I couldn't be installing it with one-click install then. My current version of Wordpress is 4.0.1, and the latest is version 4.3.

Please kindly advice how do I update my Wordpress now.

Thanks.

Hello, Sorry for your problem with the WordPress update options. I spent some time researching the issue to see if others had reported that WordPress 4.01 was causing issues. I found that 4.01 was released in November 2014 and that others had problems with varying menus within WordPress. The forum post I found most closely related to your specific issue seem to indicate that it was possibly caused by a plugin. Your best bet to resolve the issue is to do a manual update as per the instructions in the link. I hope this helps to answer your question, please let us know if you require any further assistance. Regards, Arnel C.
