A record to inmotionhosting

Hi,

I would like to point A record to inmotionhosting without touching MX records or changing nameserver (which is written in your instructions). I need to keep the email where it is (which is another provider) but have the website itself here. What should I write in a record to set it correctly?

Hello Stoupin, Thank you for contacting us about pointing an A record to InMotion. There are several steps to setting this up, due to your current configuration:
  1. Create a subdomain, such as mail.example.com, and point the 'A record' to your mail server's IP.
  2. Point your MX records to mail.example.com.
  3. Point your main domain's 'A record' (such as example.com) to your shared IP with us.
  4. Allow up to 24 hours for the DNS changes to propagate globally.
Let us know if you have any further questions. Thank you, John-Paul
