How to test the backup by restore the WP site ?

jacob.siu 5 days ago in Technical Support / WordPress updated by JT S. (Content Marketing Coordinator) 4 days ago 3

I have a outdated WP site and what to upgrade. I use your backup and generate a tar.zip file and download to my PC.

I want to make a test to restore the site from the backup. May I know how ?

If restore is OK then I will update the WP site. Thanks

Remark: The tar.gz has both wp-content directory and softsql.sql.

Is that possible for me to restore the same to my home PC, a Linux ? My experience with another WP site I just

download the content + import the SQL + change option then I can see the whole site again ...

I just want to have a way to confirm the backup is ok. Thx

How to manage old transferred site live while working on new BoldGrid site

cflynn 4 weeks ago in WordPress / BoldGrid updated by Carlos D (Content Marketing Coordinator) 4 weeks ago 1

Once I copy my old website files over from my old host, I want to have that site live while I work on a brand new site using BoldGrid.

Should I set up the BoldGrid site under a subdomain and then when I'm ready, move it over to the root domain?

Basically I want to have a non-prod environment for BoldGrid, my old site with a different CMS live, and then replace my old site once development is done.  I'm thinking I should use subdomains for that?

Cannot Get a Site to Display

I have a domain that went down. Instead of bringing the old site back, I have moved the directory to the root and installed a fresh version of WordPress. However, I cannot get the site to come up or the /wp-admin page to display. The URL is amerisafety.us. Any idea on what the issue is?

Boldgrid vacation theme glitch

steveslazarus 1 month ago in WordPress / BoldGrid updated by John-Paul B (Content Marketing Coordinator) 1 month ago 1

I am having difficulty customizing my Boldgrid Wordpress website. On all my pages except the front page, there is a banner area with a dark gray patterned background right below my site logo that I'm unable to edit or get rid of. I went through the customize menus but couldn't find a way to edit. When I look at individual pages it's not there. Here is a pic:

I contacted your chat support, but was unable to solve the problem or provide me with any sort of guidance. I did a google search and found that others had the same problem:

https://www.boldgrid.com/support/question/why-is-there-a-random-picture-under-the-header-on-every-page/?order_by=oldest#anonymousUser

I am building the simplest of websites. I was sold on the premise that Boldgrid/WordPress/Inmotion were the best possible option because of CUSTOMER SUPPORT. How is it that I can't edit a simple background pattern out of a template and your tech support can't do better than to say good luck? Is there ANYONE at your organization who can help me?

How can I create a new website and, when ready, have it replace a current website? I want to do a complete redo.

I have a website that has become obsolete.   I want to replace it with a new one I would build with Wordpress.

Accessing my website I keep getting ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

raleigh9123 1 month ago in Technical Support / WordPress updated by John-Paul B (Content Marketing Coordinator) 1 month ago 1

I keep getting spontaneous errors where refreshing a page or updating my website via wordpress backend results in a browser error page. The error is "ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED."
