what's the difference between your host name NS1 and ns 2? Do I need both or can I can I choose either one?
Hello, Gerard! Most registrars require you to input at least two nameservers for a domain. That way, there is a backup in case something goes wrong. You should usually use both.
Both nameservers work the same way, but they have different IP addresses and are on different coasts of the US. That way, even under extreme circumstances there will always be one available! Hope that explanation helps.
I'm trying to link a GitHub repository to a domain through godaddy hosted through InMotion. I'm new to this so any help would be appreciated.
Sorry to hear you're having trouble setting up Github. I'd like to help, but I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to do. Could you please provide a bit more detail regarding what you mean by a Github repository to a domain through godaddy hosted through InMotion? There are a few different ways to interpret that and I'm not sure what exactly you're trying to do.
Please describe things in a bit more detail and we'll do what we can to help!
Hi , How can i reinstall the system on inmotion managed VPS or resetting it to defaults? like the Re-Os feature in the cloud VPS!
Hi Mohamed! This is actually easy to do: just submit a verified ticket request and ask that your VPS be reset to that of a new VPS.
Please keep in mind though, that this will delete all data on the server. This includes any extra accounts you have created. Everything on your plan will be gone; it will be like you just purchased a new plan.
(Also, the agent assisting you may ask for your confirmation multiple times to be careful. We do not want to accidentally erase anything!)
Anyway, once you are ready and have saved all data you wish to save to an external source (another server, your PC, etc.), just submit that ticket and we will take care of it. Hope that helps!
We are currently developing a new mini site which is a bolt on of our main site, we set up the sub domain. Our developer wants access to our "server" I am assuming we need to set up hosting on the sub domain and grant her access to this.. we have no idea how to do this at all..
Can anyone advise please?
We do not want the developer to have access to our main cpanel.
Don't worry, this is quite manageable! First, you will need to create a subdomain in cPanel. Then, you can either create your new site on that subdomain or make a copy of the site you're going to be working on.
Now as for your developer-- if your site is a WordPress site, you may only need to add a new WordPress user with Administrative access to the staging site. If that isn't enough, the best way to provide access without providing cPanel access is to create an FTP Account for your developer in addition to the WordPress user. This will allow your developer to edit files on the server, but only for the site folder you specify.
