How to Add Content to Your One Page Website

With a new Quickstarter one page website, you’re ready to take on the world. But what about adding new content to your one page website?

WordPress lets you create multiple pages and blog posts, but for this tutorial we’ll show how to add content to a one page website in order to maintain a consistent flow.

Having an uninterrupted scrolling experience is one of the advantages of a well-designed one page website, and we’ll show you how to maintain that and add new content.

How To Add a New Section

Adding content to your one page website is super easy. All you need to do is add a new section. In BoldGrid, this is is super easy.

  1. Log into your WordPress Dashboard
  2. Edit your home page
  3. Find the area where you’d like to insert the new content
  4. Insert New Section

Now you can add content within the new section you’ve created.

Next Level Strategy: Using Anchor Links

Navigation menus don’t need to point to different pages. Rather, they can point the way to different sections of your page if you can strategically use internal linking with anchor links.

  1. Edit your page
  2. Highlight heading text of section
  3. Click to add link
  4. Insert URL with hashmark, for example: #testimonials

Now, we just need to add a menu link that points to this anchor.

  1. Click Customize
  2. Choose Menus
  3. Add custom link
  4. Add your link (using the example above, #testimonials

Use Different Backgrounds

Using a different background color or image will help make your sections stand out.

Like any design trick, don’t abuse this by having a plethora of different backgrounds. It’s best to maintain a consistent theme. Check out different BoldGrid themes as examples of how this can be done effectively.

Well done! You now know how to add content to your one page website! Be sure to let us know if you have any comments or questions!
