Performing a DNS Cleanup in WHM

As a Dedicated Server account owner, one of the things you have to keep track of is your DNS entries for your server. Over time, entries may accumulate and cause your DNS entries to be a long list of items that may include duplicate entries. WHM provides a maintenance tool called DNS Cleanup. Make sure that you only use this tool after you have completed a full backup of your server.

How to Run the DNS Cleanup Tool

  1. Log in to the WHM
  2. Click on the blank field in the top left corner and start typing “Perform a DNS Cleanup” The menu item will then appear in the column to the left
  3. Read the warning documentation. If you have any doubts, do not run the tool and contact our live technical support staff for further clarification
  4. Click on the Proceed button

Depending on the number of DNS entries that are being parsed, the cleanup may be very quick. When it’s completed you’ll see a summary stating how many zones were cleaned.
