# How to Add an Existing Domain in Platform InMotion

Before you can [manage DNS](/support/product-guides/wordpress-hosting/central/domains/dns-management/) for a domain from Platform i, the first step is adding it to your account. This guide will show you how to add a domain to Platform i that is not registered here.

## Add an External Domain Name

If you have a domain that is already registered, you can add it to Platform i which allows you to host and manage the DNS records there. Keep in mind that you can also [register a new domain](/support/product-guides/wordpress-hosting/central/domains/register-domain/) directly with Platform i.

First, update your Nameservers at your Domain Registrar to **ns1.inmotionhosting.com** and **ns2.inmotionhosting.com**.

**Note:** If you are migrating your domain from another InMotion Hosting account, you’ll need to [Contact InMotion Support](https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/product-guides/wordpress-hosting/central/help/get-support/) and request that your **domain authority** be released. This process is in place to prevent domain hijacking, for your security.

1. [Login to Platform i](https://central.inmotionhosting.com/login).
2. Click **Domains** in the main menu and you will then see the *DNS Management* section. When you first visit this page it will just say “No DNS” until you add a domain and set the user or team that is associated with it.
3. Click the** +Add** button under *DNS Management*.
4. Click the first dropdown box and choose the **user** or **[team](https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/product-guides/wordpress-hosting/central/teams/managing-teams/)** that you want to be associated with the domain.
5. Enter the **Domain Name** you want to manage in the next field.
