Understanding the Privacy Settings in WordPress

Privacy for personal data has become a concern with Europe changing privacy for personal data. WordPress has responded with several updates to its interface including its Privacy settings. Privacy Settings in WordPress are used to provide a privacy page for your WordPress site. The following tutorial focuses on the Privacy settings within the WordPress Administrator.

Privacy Settings In WordPress

  1. Log in to WordPress as an Administrator
  2. Click on Settings
  3. Click on Privacy
  4. You will see a paragraph informing you to select or create a privacy page for your site. There is a default privacy page created for each WordPress site. However, if you have other data that you are collecting then you need to make sure that your privacy page is up-to-date. Click on Edit to edit the existing privacy page, or click on View to review it.
  5. There are links that can help guide you in creating your Privacy policy page. You can click on the existing page (provided by WordPress), or click on the drop-down arrow to select the sample page. You can also click on Create New Page to create a new Privacy Policy page.

You should now know how to select a custom privacy page or use the default one.
