# How to Create an Email Filter in Webmail

In this tutorial, we will show you **how to create an email filter in Webmail**. Email filters allow you to perform a specific task such as sending “Sales” emails to a specific folder, or automatically deleting email from a specific sender. Filters can really help you organize your emails by moving them to corresponding folders, un-cluttering your *Inbox*.

SquirrelMail is no longer included in cPanel by default. It reached its end of life in 2013. InMotion Hosting has [disabled SquirrelMail](https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/email/disable-squirrelmail-in-whm/) from Webmail but you can still [install and use](https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/email/how-to-install-squirrelmail-with-softaculous/) it for managing email if needed.

## Create Email Filter in Webmail

1. Log into Webmail with your email address.
2. [![](https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/webmail_email-filter_access-webmail-menu-1024x322.png)](/support/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/webmail_email-filter_access-webmail-menu.png)   Click your **email address** on the top right of the screen.
3. [![](https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/webmail_email-filter_webmail-email-filters.png)](/support/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/webmail_email-filter_webmail-email-filters.png)   Click **Email Filters** in the drop-down menu.
4. [![](https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/webmail_email-filter_create-new-webmail-filter.png)](/support/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/webmail_email-filter_create-new-webmail-filter.png)   On the *Email Filters* page click the **Create a New Filter** button.
5. [![](https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/webmail_email-filter_enter-email-filter-name.png)](/support/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/webmail_email-filter_enter-email-filter-name.png)   Enter a name for your filter in the first field.
6. [![](https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/webmail_email-filter_webmail-filter-rules-settings.png)](/support/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/webmail_email-filter_webmail-filter-rules-settings.png)   In the *Rules section*, choose your options as needed. This will differ based on your specific needs. In my example, I am creating a filter for any email that contains “Sales confirmation” in the subject.
7. [![](https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/webmail_email-filter_webmail-filter-actions.png)](/support/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/webmail_email-filter_webmail-filter-actions.png)   In the *Actions* section, click the drop-down menu and choose what you want to do with filtered emails. In my example, I want the emails delivered to a “Sales” folder.
8. [![](https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/webmail_email-filter_create-webmail-filter.png)](/support/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/webmail_email-filter_create-webmail-filter.png)   Once you have chosen your filter settings, click the **Create** button.   [![](https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/webmail_email-filter_successfully-created-filter.png)](/support/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/webmail_email-filter_successfully-created-filter.png)   You are finished when you see a message stating “*You have successfully created a new filter. You can create another one now, or you can return to the filters list.*”   [![](https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/webmail_email-filter_current-filters-listing.png)](/support/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/webmail_email-filter_current-filters-listing.png)   You will also see your filter listed in the *Current Filters* section of the main *Email Filters* page.

Congratulations, now you know **how to create an email filter in Webmail**!
