# WordPress Ends Support for PHP 5.2-5.5

WordPress has now raised the minimum PHP requirement. This means that WordPress no longer officially supports PHP 5.5 or below.

| Who is Impacted? | All WordPress users running PHP 5.5 or below. |
| What should I Do? | We are strongly encouraging all WordPress users to [upgrade to the highest PHP version available](/support/website/how-to-upgrade-php-version/) in their cPanel. |

Before making critical upgrades it’s best to test out a new PHP version in your development environment or ask your developer (if you have one).
