Customizing Your Under Construction WordPress Page

While you are building your website, you may consider using an Under Construction Page. This will allow you to keep your website content private while communicating with your visitors that the website is being worked on. In this guide, you can learn how to customize the Under Construction Page Settings.

IMPORTANT: The following instructions require that you have installed the WordPress plugin: Under Construction by Web Factory.

Choose a Design

There are a variety of options to choose from for the design of your Under Construction page. The steps below will guide you through the process of selecting a design.

  1. Log into WordPress.
  2. Hover over Settings and click on Under Construction.
  3. Click on the Design tab.
  4. Click on the Activate button under your preferred design choice.
NOTICE: Templates marked with a star require a PRO subscription.
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes.

Content Settings

The Under Construction Page plugin includes an interface to modify the content displayed on your website, when enabled. In this section you can learn how to modify the content settings to customize your Under Construction Page.

  1. Log into WordPress.
  2. Hover over Settings and click on Under Construction.
  3. Click on the Content tab.
  4. Refer to the table below for more details regarding the free settings available under this tab. Once you have made your modifications, be sure to click the Save Changes button.
FieldDescription
TitleThe title appears in the text of the tab in your broswer. The default value uses the [site-title] shortcode. This will display your Site’s Title in place of the shortcode.
DescriptionAlthough the description will not be displayed on the Under Construction Page, it may appear in the Snippet that Search Engines display for results found on your website. The default value uses the [site-tagline] shortcode, to use your Site’s Tagline in place of the shortcode.
HeadlineThe headline appears on the Under Construction Page as the main heading. The default text generally emphasizes that some work is being done on the site. However, you can customize this message to captivate your audience using more personable text.
ContentThe content appears on the Under Construction Page. The editor allows you to customize the content (text and media) much like the Editor for WordPress Pages and Posts.
Login ButtonThis toggle will disable/enable a transparent button on the Under Construction Page. This button will allow anyone to access the WordPress Login Page when clicked.
Show Some LoveIf you are loving UnderConstruction, you can show it by enabling this toggle. When enabled, “Create stunning under construction pages for WordPress. Completely free.” will appear in the footer of your Under Construction Page and also links to their website.
