# How to Install the Open Graph Plugin in WordPress

Open Graph tags tell Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and other platforms which title, description, and image to show when someone shares a link to your site. Without them, the platform guesses, and the preview often shows the wrong image or a cut-off description. The free **Social Preview and Open Graph Tags** plugin adds those tags to every post and page for you. In this guide, you learn how to install the Open Graph plugin and where to find its settings.

**Note:** This is the same plugin that Webdados used to publish under a longer name. If that older version is already installed on your site, you do not need to install it again. Update it from the **Plugins** page instead.

## Install the Social Preview and Open Graph Tags Plugin

1. [Log into your WordPress Dashboard](/support/edu/wordpress/logging-into-wordpress-dashboard/).
2. In the left menu, go to **Plugins > Add New Plugin**.
3. In the search field at the top right of the *Add Plugins* screen, type **Social Preview and Open Graph Tags**.
4. Find **Social Preview and Open Graph Tags** by *Saad Iqbal* in the results and click **Install Now**.
5. When the installation finishes, click **Activate**.
6. To review the defaults, go to **Settings > Open Graph and Twitter Card Tags**.

The settings page lets you pick a default image, decide which tags the plugin adds, and connect your Facebook Page and App ID. Once the plugin is active, you can also customize the [image](/support/edu/wordpress/how-to-set-the-image-of-your-wordpress-page-content-when-sharing-to-facebook/) and [description](/support/edu/wordpress/set-description-of-wordpress-with-open-graph/) that Facebook uses when a specific post or page is shared.
