# Connect WordPress to Matomo Analytics with WP-Matomo

Among Matomo Analytics’ [list of recommended plugins](https://matomo.org/integrate/#content-management-systems) for customizing web analytics is the [WP-Matomo (WP-Piwik)](https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-piwik/) WordPress plugin. This plugin allows you to view Matomo analytics within your WordPress dashboard. Below we cover how to **setup the WP-Matomo (WP-Piwik) plugin using your Matomo API code**.

## Install WP-Matomo (WP-Piwik)

1. [Log into your WordPress website directly](/support/edu/wordpress/logging-into-wordpress-dashboard/) or via [Softaculous](/support/edu/wordpress/how-to-log-into-wordpress-using-softaculous/).
2. Under **Plugins**, select **Add New**.
3. Search “*WP-Matomo*“.
4. Select **Install Now** to install WP-Matomo (WP-Piwik). 5. Select **Activate** in the same location. You can also enable it from **Installed Plugins** on the left. 6. Hover over **Settings** and select **WP-Piwik** to configure the plugin settings. 7. Type your Matomo login URL beside **Piwik URL**. 8. Paste your Matomo API Code beside **Auth token**.

   3. Select **API**.    4. Click the grey text field to **uncover and copy your API code**. 9. After copying the authentication code, press **Save Changes**. You’ll see a new tab titled **Show Statistics**. 10. Hover over **Dashboard** and select **WP-Piwik** to view your Matomo Analytics.
