How to Convert Image Formats in cPanel

There are many image file formats that exist; among the most popular are: .GIF (Graphics Interchange Format), .PNG (Portable Network Graphics), .JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group), and .BMP (bitmap). Which format to use is a very popular topic for discussion/debate. However, most can agree on the fact that it depends on your intended use. For instance, the PNG format is optimal for displaying site icons and screenshots with markups. However, JPEG is optimized for maintaining the highest quality of image balanced with file size/compression. Therefore photos without text/markup would display better as the JPEG format.

cPanel features an image format converter to help you create images that are optimized to improve your website’s speed. In this guide you can learn how to convert image file formats (JPEG to PNG) stored in your cPanel account files using cPanel.
