# How to Log in to your WHMCS

## What is WHMCS?

WHMCS is a full management and e-commerce tool for web hosting resellers. We cover the product in more detail in our [Why Use WHMCS?](/support/edu/whm/why-use-whmcs/) article.

## Logging into WHMCS for the First Time

At this point in the reseller series, you have received your [WHMCS license key](/support/edu/whm/getting-whmcs-key/) and [installed WHMCS](/support/edu/cpanel/whmcs-install-softaculous/). In this article, we will cover the next step: logging into your WHMCS for the first time.

1. Go to the directory in which your WHMCS was installed. In our example, the directory is /billing. In your case, the directory may be your domain name, a subdomain (whmcs.example.com), or a subdirectory like billing (example.com/billing).
2. [![Admin directory in URL](/support/images/stories/reseller/whmcs/login/Selection_066.png)](/support/images/stories/reseller/whmcs/login/Selection_066.png) Type /admin after the directory. This will redirect you to the login page for administrators.

The username by default is “admin” and the password is the one you selected during the installation process.
4. Click on the **Login** button.

From here you will redirected to the admin area.
