# GDPR Compliance in PrestaShop 1.7

[General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)](/support/news/updates-to-our-privacy-policy/) compliance is important for all websites storing customer information. Below we cover **how to improve GDPR compliance with the Official GDPR Compliance by PrestaShop module**.

## Configure GDPR Compliance

1. **Log into PrestaShop**.
2. Select **Modules & Services** under *Modules*.
3. Select **Selection** from the top and search “*GDPR*“.
4. Press **Install** under *Official GDPR Compliance by PrestaShop (1.7)*. 5. Press the **Configure** button replacing **Install**.

7. Installed GDPR compliant modules will be listed. 8. Press **Consent checkbox customization** to edit consent messages for account creation, customer account area, contact form, and newsletter subscription.
