# How to create a new Tax in PrestaShop 1.5

In this PrestaShop 1.5 tutorial, we’ll show you how to create a new tax. When working with taxes, creating a new tax is the first step. After you have created a new tax, you will then need to [create a new tax rule](/support/edu/prestashop/new-tax-rule/) and then [assign the tax rule to your products](/support/edu/prestashop/tax-rule/). 1. [Log into your PrestaShop 1.5 admin Dashboard](/support/edu/prestashop/login-to-dashboard/)
2. In the top menu, hover over **Localization** and click **Taxes**
3. In the top right menu, click the **Add new** button
4.
