# How to install a free theme to your PHP-Fusion site

Like most free open source software, **PHP-Fusion** has the ability to install themes to your site. There are many free themes online you can use for your PHP-Fusion site. In this article we will teach you how to upload your own theme to your server.

For teaching purposes, we will install the “*Birds Fusion*” theme. The theme can be downloaded for free at the following link.

Once you download the “*Birds Fusion*” theme, you should have a zip file with the following name:

birds-fusion.zip
Follow the steps below to get the “*Birds Fusion*” theme installed on your PHP-Fusion site.

## Steps to install a custom theme

1. [Upload the zip file](/support/website/how-to-edit-a-file/) to the /themes directory in your root folder for your PHP-Fusion site.
