# Adding an internal link in Movable Type

In this article I’m going to teach you how to add an internal link in Movable Type, so that you can have one of your pages linking directly to another, without your visitors having to navigate there from the menu.

Before getting started following along with this guide, I’d recommend first ensuring that you already know [how to create a new page in Movable Type](/support/edu/movable-type/create-new-page/) so that you actually have an internal page to create a link to.

## Creating an internal link

1. [Login to your Movable Type admin dashboard](/support/edu/movable-type/moveable-type-admin/).
2. [![click on pages link](https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/movable-type_internal-link_click-on-pages-link-1024x354.png)](/support/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/movable-type_internal-link_click-on-pages-link.png) Under the **Websites** tab, click on the **pages** link.
3. [![click on home page to edit](https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/movable-type_internal-link_click-on-home-page-to-edit.png)](/support/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/movable-type_internal-link_click-on-home-page-to-edit.png) I’m going to be clicking on my **Home** page to edit it.
4. [![highlight about us click on insert link](https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/movable-type_internal-link_highlight-about-us-click-on-insert-link.png)](/support/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/movable-type_internal-link_highlight-about-us-click-on-insert-link.png) Now I’m going to highlight the **About Us** text on my page, then click on the **Insert / Edit Link** icon in the menu.
5. [![fill in link url click on insert](https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/movable-type_internal-link_fill-in-link-url-click-on-insert.png)](/support/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/movable-type_internal-link_fill-in-link-url-click-on-insert.png) In the **Link URL** field type in the name of your page you’d like to link to. In this case, my page is **about-us.html**. I’ve also set my **Target** to **Open Link in the Same Window**, then clicked on **Insert**.
6. [![click on update](https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/movable-type_internal-link_click-on-update.png)](/support/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/movable-type_internal-link_click-on-update.png) Now click on the **update** link at the right.
7. [![click on view page](https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/movable-type_internal-link_click-on-view-page.png)](/support/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/movable-type_internal-link_click-on-view-page.png) You should see that your changes have been saved, then click on **View Page** to see those changes.
8. You should now see your page successfully updated with an internal link pointing to another.[![internal page updated with link](https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/movable-type_internal-link_internal-page-updated-with-link.png)](/support/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/movable-type_internal-link_internal-page-updated-with-link.png)

You should now understand how to add an internal link to one of your other pages in Movable Type. This will allow you to keep your pages interconnected with one another without having to rely on menus.
