# Using a Captcha with the Contacts Component in Joomla 3.1

**Question**: How do I setup captcha for contact forms created by the Contacts Component in Joomla 3.0?

**Answer**: Configure the global [captcha setting](/support/edu/joomla/joomla-3/default-captcha/) in Joomla

[![contact-form-with-captcha](https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/edu_joomla-3_components_contacts_contact-form-with-captcha.jpg)](/support/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/edu_joomla-3_components_contacts_contact-form-with-captcha.jpg)

By default, there does not appear to be any settings within the [Joomla 3.0 Contacts Component](/support/website/clear-browser-cache-android/) that deal with captcha setup. If you want to setup captcha for your contact forms, simply [setup the captcha settings in Joomla’s global configuration](/support/edu/joomla/joomla-3/default-captcha/) and they will automatically be applied to your contact forms. The screenshot to the right shows what your contact forms will look like once a captcha plugin, like recaptcha, is configured.
