# How to Add a Horizontal Line in a Joomla 2.5

Adding Horizontal lines are a great way to separate content in a [Joomla 2.5 article](/support/edu/joomla/joomla-3/create-new-article/). A horizontal line is a straight line from the left to right side of an article. There’s not much more to say about horizontal lines, so let’s get right to the steps!

## To add a horizontal line / horizontal ruler in Joomla 2.5

1. [Log into your Joomla admin](/support/edu/joomla/joomla-3/how-to-log-in-to-administrative-dashboard/) and open any article for editing
2. Place your cursor where you want the line to go
3.
