# How to create a new Slider in Unite Nivo Slider for Joomla 2.5

Joomla 2.5 has reached its end of life as for 12/31/2014. Please be advised this may be a security risk to your website. You can view more information about the end of life [here](https://docs.joomla.org/Joomla!_CMS_versions).

After you have finished [installing the Unite Nivo Slider Component and Module for Joomla 2.5](/support/edu/joomla/joomla-2-5/install-unite-nivo-slider/), your next step is to create a new Slider. A Slider is a single slideshow, and we need to create the Slider first before we can add images to the slideshow.

**To create a new Slider in Unite Nivo Slider:**

1. Log into your Joomla 2.5 Administrator area
2. In the top menu, hover over **Components** and then click **Unite Nivo Slider**
3. Make sure you’re on the **Sliders** tab, and then click **New** in the top right menu
4. Enter a **Title**, and then click **Save** in the top right menu. In our testing, we entered *Test Slider 1* as the title. That was easy, right?! Our next step will be to begin [adding slides to our new Slider](/support/edu/joomla/joomla-2-5/adding-slides/).
