# Joomla 2.5 Menu Items &#8211; Category List vs. Category Blog

In a previous article, we [created a new Joomla 2.5 menu item that links to a category](/support/edu/joomla/joomla-2-5/how-to-add-a-category-menu-item/). When we selected the menu type, we chose **Category List**. You may have noticed that there was a **Category Blog** option as well.

**What is the difference between a Category List and a Category Blog menu item?**
