Bootstrap is an open-source Javascript framework developed by the team at Twitter. It is a combination of HTML, CSS, and Javascript code designed to help build user interface components. Bootstrap was also programmed to support both HTML5 and CSS3.

Important! Bootstrap is a CSS and Javascript framework that is used within your HTML. Bootstrap provides more advanced functionality to your web site. Generally, if you are not a developer you do not need to worry about bootstrap.

What is included with Bootstrap?

If you were to download bootstrap, you would find that it includes css files, javascript files, and images. Here's a sneak peak at the files included:

  • bootstrap.css
  • bootstrap.min.css
  • bootstrap-responsive.css
  • bootstrap-responsive.min.css
  • glyphicons-halflings.png
  • glyphicons-halflings-white.png
  • bootstrap.js
  • bootstrap.min.js

How do I use Bootstrap?

When using Joomla 3.0, bootstrap is included by default. We had planned to write a tutorial series on using bootstrap, but honestly the official documentation is really good! If you're interested in using bootstrap, we suggest taking look at the documentation here.

You should be installing bootstrap in your website code not within the cPanel. What exactly are you looking to do?

Hello mahesh,

Thank you for your question. Bootstrap is essentially just CSS.

It can be used to code/create a plugin, but is not a plugin that can be just installed in a CMS.

We are happy to help, but will need to know what are you trying to accomplish?

Thank you,

Hello naiian,

Thank you for your question. Here is a link to the Official Bootstrap site, where they say it is an "HTML, CSS, and JS framework for developing responsive, mobile first projects on the web."

We also include Ruby on our shared servers now, if you need it.

Hello Atul,

Thank you for contacting us regarding Bootstrap. We have a full class on Creating Responsive Templates, which includes several bootstrap tutorials.

Is there something specific you need help with in Bootstrap?

Thank you,
