How To Import Manually Installed Programs into Softaculous
This tutorial explains how to import a program into Softaculous. This is good to know if you have manually installed a program available through Softaculous applications and want to use Softaculous management tools like backup, restore, clone, etc.
You can also import programs installed using Fantastico
How to Import Programs Into Softaculous
- Log into your cPanel
- Go to Software > Softaculous
- Click All installations if you want to see what you have already installed
- Choose the program you want to import. In this example we're using a WordPress installation manually installed on our server
- Choose Import
- Identify the location of your manual installation. (In this example, our WordPress files are in a directory called WordPress.)
- Click Import
Softaculous will now install all the necessary files. Under All installations you should now see your WordPress installation as if you had installed it through Softaculous.

This article appears to be extremely out of date as the images do not look anything like what we now see in Softaculous when accessed from cPanel. Since the version appears different, the instructions also need to be updated.

Thank you for contacting us. Most likely you are using the older x3 theme for cPanel. You can switch to the latest "Paper lantern" theme in cPanel, here is a walk-through guide. This will cause your Softaculous to display as the images above.
All of our latest accounts use paper lantern by default.
