Staying logged into Wordpress

Hi,

I am a new customer to Inmotion, but previously I ran my Wordpress site on another host. I am now finding one feature in my Wordpress management that seems strange and I want to try to fix it if I can please.

Even after I login to my Wordpress site, if I go to a page, I often find I am no longer logged in. And even if I login again, I stay logged in while I am in the Dashboard, but am often logged out again when I go to a page again. This is frustrating as I have to login, go back to the dashboard and open the page from there each time I want to edit a page. Somehow, the login isn't being "remembered".

This wasn't happening previously and I don't think I have changed any settings, so I wonder if there is something in how Inmotion's Wordpress setup that I need to know about. Any thoughts please?

Hello Eric H.

Thanks for posting your question regarding how to maintain your login session while visiting pages on your WordPress website. I'm sorry to see that this is causing an issue for you. Our WordPress optimized servers do run on NGINX. I recommend disabling caching, using the Cache Manager plugin in cPanel. Temporarily disabling the cache may help correct the issue while you are working on your website. Once you are done working on your website, you can re-enable caching.

I hope this helps. Don't forget, as an InMotion Hosting customer, you can always contact our Live Technical Support for further assistance.

Sincerely,
Carlos D

Hi Carlos, thanks for your reply. But unfortunately it didn't work.

It turns out when I went to the Cache Manager that caching was already disabled (I didn't know that, I had never been to the Cache Manager before). I tried turning caching on, and later off again, I tried purging the cache. But no matter what I did, sometimes I remained logged in, other times I didn't. I haven't yet worked out what makes the difference.

But I can report that I can be logged in, I am correcting crawl errors in Google Webtools (open in another tab), so I click a link to my website with a problem, and when the page opens I am no longer logged in. I can go to the Wordpress Control panel, login and then use the back button to return to the page and re-load it, and I am no longer logged in. This has never happened to me before. The only way to login is to go to Pages in the Control Panel and find the relevant page, and load from there.

I assume this is not a Wordpress problem, but something related to Inmotion's Wordpress set-up, because it wasn't happening with my old host. Live technical support may not be practical because I live in Australia and the time zones and phone practicalities may make this difficult. What do you suggest?

I recommend checking any other caching features you may have - WordPress plugins, Cloudflare CDN, etc.. Also, our live support 24/7 and available via live chat, phone, or email.
