I'm trying to install some applications by Softaculous, but I can not. It shows me an error.
"Required PHP version less than 5.3 AND found version is : 5.3.27"
I changed the version of PHP for less from cPanel. But the result did not change, still shows the same error.
I changed the PHP version of the site and the folder with the ".htaccess" file, but I get the same error.
What can I do?
Hi, I am having this same issue with installing open journal systems. When trying to install it shows me "required PHP version less than 7.0.0 AND found version is 7.0.22" I don't want to switch the php from the whole account but only on the subdomain where I want to install OJS. I already added the .htaccess data to change the php info for that subdomain correctly. How do I would I be able to install OJS then?
Hello diamondwaycali, and thanks for the question.
Can you please let us know what software you're attempting to install in Softaculous. If it requires less than PHP version 5.3 then typically changing your account's PHP version down to PHP 5.2 should allow it to work.
I happened to several applications: poMMo, Webinsta Maillist, ccMail.
I changed the version of PHP as you recommend, to PHP 5.2. I did it for CPANEL and ".htaccess" files ... does not work! ...
When I use de function phpinfo() in a php file, version appears changed (PHP 5.2). But when I go to install any of these applications, it is indicating that my PHP is 5.3.27.
"However when you're using Softaculous to install applications it's going to use the system's default PHP version which in this case would be 5.3. In order to get around this issue you could try to manually install the application, after you setup a sub-folder for it that utilizes PHP 5.2."
I try to do the manual installation.
I really have tried Phplist and it worked perfect for me, however it is not easy to use. I will not be the end user, but another person with less computer skills. Phplist is not very intuitive, and it takes time to understand and configure.
No problem at all, sorry we can't get Softaculous to auto install the older software for you. I agree that phpList can be very intuitive especially for a novice computer user. If you have any problems with getting a manual install of any software setup, please let us know!
Thanks for posting your comment. Softaculous will not adhere to locally set PHP versions (like in the .htaccess of the subdomain's directory). Softaculous finds the server's default PHP version and uses that. If you do not want to change this setting server-wide you will not be able to install Open Journal System with Softaculous. However, you should be able to download it here. Then you can open the "readme" file and follow the manual installation instructions. I hope this helps!
Hi carlose, ok yes that helps. I guess I'm afraid to make a mistake while installing the software. In the comment above one of your staff offers help with manually installing some software. Is that still an option? I mostly use wordpress and joomla and am familiar how to install those but not with other software.
