I'm using PS 1.6.0.9 and the default theme. The issues I'm having are:
1) When log in as a customer on the website, a blank screen appears when click on 'add or update' button on the account.
2) eMail to new customer (after new account is created) is not sent from the website automatically, the auto email was working previously (when tested in September) and the configuration has not changed.

When Support added: 'sendmail_path = /usr/sbin/sendmail -t -I' line of code to the php.ini file, both issues were solved BUT PayPal button AND Voucher field disappear on the checkout page. So, Support removed the line of code, PayPal button and Vouchers field reappear and so do the two issues.

I haven't upgraded or changed anything on the PS1.6 modules so I don't know how these issue arise. Does anyone have the same issue? Any solution?

I only use modules provided in PS1.6 and haven’t installed any third
party module
• I’ve checked Fixed A Blank screen instructions
http://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/prestashop-16/blank-screen and on
my php.ini file, the memory limit = 256m

Hello Chris_L,

Thank you for your questions. 1) Typically the "white screen" error occurs when you reach a limitation in PHP, for example memory_limit. I recommend following our guide on Fixing the blank white screen error on PrestaShop 1.6, as it has helped many people.

It can take time for a process to reach a PHP limitation (based on the specific site), which is why it may not show up immediately.

A blank screen is usually suppressing an error, enabling error reporting in PrestaShop 1.6 allows you to see the specific error messages on the screen.

2) I would first double check the SMTP settings in PrestaShop, and ensure nothing has changed, and there's no typos. You can view your email settings in cPanel at any time.

If the settings are all correct, test the sign up email again with the error reporting on. Please reply with any errors that are generated. Also, include a list of any 3rd party modules you are using. There may be a conflict there, or required update.

Thank you,
John-Paul

Hi John-Paul, I've just run the error reporting and got this error: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected end of file, expecting function (T_FUNCTION) in /home/userxxx/public_html/override/controllers/front/AddressController.php on line 6
Please advise how to fix it. I've replaced my username with userxxx. Thanks.

Hi Chris,

Sorry to hear you're having problems with PrestaShop. I took a look at the error and found that it had been discussed in this post in the PrestaShop support forums. The odd thing is that they are not sure of the cause. However, I have already added the correction that they suggested. We just need to know if it fixed the problem for you. Please let us know.

Kindest regards,
Arnel C.

Hi Arnel, Thank you so much for the fix! Yes, it works now - can add, update and delete address on customer account. I still can't figure out Issue #2 however, I've run error reporting while creating a new customer account. The new account was created but there was no email sent to the customer and there is nothing generated on Error Reporting.

Hello Chris_L,

I'm glad you got the first problem worked out. In regard to your second problem, did you confirm your SMTP settings are correct.

The SMTP settings in PrestaShop should be here: Admin > Preferences > Email tab

Also, it may be helpful to contact Live Support at the time you are testing the sign up email. That way they can review the email logs in real-time to determine if the email is being sent, or failing before it gets sent.

Thank you,
John-Paul

Hi John-Paul, Thank you for your help in both issues. Issue #2 - Yes, the configuration is unchanged and I've tested it on PS Front Office Advanced Parameters/eMail section > Test Your Email Configuration section, it sent the email to my email account and the Auto Response email was also sent successfully.

But it still doesn't send email to new customer after account registration, even though it's configured to send the email automatically.

Hello Chris_L,

Thank you for contacting us. I tried to register for the site you originally posted, and am unable to complete the registration process due to the following error:
There is 1 error
address2 is required.

When I review the form, there is only 1 address field available, so I am never able to register successfully.

I then tested this on a clean installation of PrestaShop 1.6.0.9, with the default theme, and was unable to replicate the problem.

The only way I could find to require this address2 field is to custom change it, or use something (addon, module, etc.) that modifies the existing setup. Was there other themes/addons used in the past?

Posting a question in the official PrestaShop forums may also help, since this is a really unusual issue, and those forums are frequented by PrestaShop developers.

If this problem persists, you may want to consider restoring from a local backup if you have one available, or reinstalling the software and connecting it to the existing database.

If you have any further questions, feel free to post them below.

Thank you,
John-Paul

Hi John-Paul, Thank you so much for testing it on my website. The address (line 2) shows when I created a new account as a customer and able to register successfully. Support team's Sean_L has successfully helped me to reconfigured the SMTP parameters (Advanced Parameters/Email > select Set My Own SMTP parameters ). So issue 2 is also resolved. Thanks heaps to both your team and the Live Support team. Awesome teams!
