In my prestashop, when a customer goes to check out and they start the registration process. The first page with name and email etc works fine. Then the second page asks for their address and phone number etc. When they click next I get an error that lastname and firstname are required. Those fields do not exist on this page and I can't get past it.

Has anyone else has this before?

Hello Guildernet,

Thank you for your question. I have not seen this issue before, and could not find a solution through Google search. We are happy to help, but will need some additional information.

Can you provide the full error message? Turning on Error Reporting in PrestaShop, may provide a additional error information.

What was the last thing that was changed before this started happening?

Are you using any 3rd party Modules, or Themes? Which ones?

What version of PrestaShop are you using?

If you have any further questions, feel free to post them below.
Thank you,

-John-Paul

Hello, Thank you for responding.
I'm using PrestaShop 1.6.0.8 and the theme i'm using is PrestaShop Theme 50127.
I do not recall making any changes to the environment, but as this is my first time using it I suppose I may have made a change accidentally somewhere.

I did download xamp and set up the same environment on a local test and it seemed to work fine so i'm not believing that this is necessarily a template issue, but rather some setting I must have not correct in Prestashop.

I have not installed any third party modules yet, I am only using the ones that came with the install from inmotionhosting.

I have more information and a screen capture of my problem posted to the prestashop forum. http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/344119-1608-customer-form-problem/

Any assistance you can provide would be very much appreciated, thanks so much.

If you like, go to www.addictiveauto.com and order a product. When you get to step 2 of the checkout you will see the problem. I enabled error reporting but it gives me nothing.

When going to this site, adding a product, and completing the guest checkout, I was able to get all the way to the payment screen. Could you clarify the exact steps that you are taking?

It looks like the Guest Logout Works, I had not tried that one.

What i'm doing is the following steps.
1) Click on Product and add it to cart.
2) Click Proceed to Checkout
3) On "Shopping-Cart Summary" Page, I click PROCEED TO CHECKOUT
4) Under Create Account I put in my email address
5) Under "Your Personal Information" I fill in my First Name, last Name, Password and DOB then click "REGISTER"
6) On "Your Addresses" Page I fill in my address info then click "SAVE"
7) I get an Error "There are Two Errors. 1. lastname is required. 2. firstname is required

From here i'm stuck and can't get past it.

Hello Guildernet,

I've been replying to your post in the PrestaShop forum as well. I'll repeat what I said there. I'm not sure of the process you're using to checkout. When I checkout, I see a First Name and Last name - it shows when creating a new user, or when I go to the instant checkout option. You mentioned above that the First name and last name fields are NOT on the form, but they are for me. Here's a screengrab for the instant checkout:

Let me know if you're seeing the same problem, and if so, can you please indicate the steps you're taking to get the screen to show up that does not include the first and last name.

Regards,
Arnel C.

It seems like the theme may not be passing the variable correctly to the next page. Have you tried testing it with a different theme?

Jeff, when I convert back to the default template I get the same issue.

Now, I installed XAMP on a thumbdrive and then installed PrestaShop on that and imported this theme and it seems to work on a local copy which is why i'm stumped.

You may need to re-install PrestaShop on the server as well.

Just to be sure. I just switched templates back to the original one that comes with Prestashop and I had the same issue at check out.

It sounds like the issue is caused by PrestaShop itself. First, try renaming any .htaccess or php.ini files as well as changing PHP versions. If none of these help, you may need to reinstall PrestaShop.
