I bought a Theme from Prestashop (silly me). The theme is PrestaShop theme #317
(v. My version of PrestaShop is

I cannot get the theme to install from the PrestaShop admin panel. The error I get is bad configuration file.

Inmotion Hosting has been very helpful in looking at the logs etc. but the fix needs to come from the vendor PrestaShop and I have been unsuccessful in getting them to send me a new package, a updated configuration file or an updated Theme that will work in the version of PrestaShop that I have.

Any suggestions? Anyone. Should I pick another shop vendor? Thanks for your advice.

Hello Glenda,

Unfortunately the theme will not work as its for a much older version than your prestashop version. You should buy a theme that is for the same version you are currently on. I would suggest contacting the developer of the theme you purchased as they may have an updated version.

First, I took your comments out of the OTHER area of our support center and I've placed here under this question, as it is more relevant here. It causes double-work and confusion when you have your posts scattered in that manner. Here are your previous posts:

Does anyone have an answer for a bad config file? Maybe a missing file from the package that I bought? Here's what I think the content of the config file is:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<theme><version value="1.4"><ccc available="true"/><guest_checkout available="true"/><one_page_checkout available="true"/><store_locator available="true"/></version></theme>

There are many config files.... so this might not be it.

I had the same problem and have not resolved it yet. No response from Prestashop except for emails to get me to sign up for more stuff. I've spent $150 already for absolutely nothing and hours of my time and inmotionhosting time trying to get the theme to install.

One of the BEST places to find out about your issue is the PrestaShop support forums. Many people have been using the product and chances are that they have also run into the same problem that you're seeing. In your case, it looks like this issue was described and resolved here: Theme Installation issues.

We unfortunately have no access to these themes, so if you wish to reference a specific theme that you purchased, we do need the name of the theme. If the steps described in the support forum article do not help, then please provide more information on your theme and the exact steps you're taking when you are installing it so that we can sort out what's happening and help determine its cause.

I know it's probably been a frustrating experience in trying to get the theme installed, but if you could please try the suggestions of the post, then it may help get the theme installed. If it doesn't help, we will still be happy to assist, but we just need a little more information from you so that we can attempt to duplicate the issue, or at the very list post a support request for you with PrestaShop.

Kindest regards,
Arnel C.

Hello Glenda,

I also took a quick look at your files to see if I could find the ZIP file for the theme. Were you able to upload the theme file into your folder? Since we rarely see third party themes installed, it would help us if you could provide the file and at least temporary access to your admin if you want us to try loading the theme for you. You can REPLY to these comments and we would remove that information before it is available to the public.

You are absolutely right. I see that now. Thank you. I will try to find another "gallery" theme that works.
