Orders emails and contact form not working

Since last Thursday, my Opencart installation stopped sending emails. While the contact form seems to work without errors, but as well it does not send emails to our indicated email address for order. I did not change anything in the settings. Please help me to solve the problem.

Hello, and thanks for your question.

When trying to resolve email issues it always helps to have a specific data and email address involved so that we can be sure we are reviewing the correct time in the mail logs.

I'm not seeing any failed email deliveries of note from your domain. I do see that someone was trying to login to the email account on your domain repeatedly with an IMAP client and the credentials being passed to the server were incorrect.

It looks like there were 5 emails successfully sent out today from your OpenCart installation to a account. If you didn't receive those try to look in your spam folder in Gmail.

You might want to try to login to webmail with the account account to ensure you're trying to use the correct credentials for this accout.

I can login to web mail with my account with the same password of mail settings in opencart. The form on the web site, as well as the cart for the online orders, are linked to Would you please try to fill out the form on the web page to check if the form sends correctly the email? You can change the language from It into En from the flag above the main logo.

We checked today and we did not get the emails on from the contact form.
Also, the emails on the account were not in the spam and were neither received. I want to let you know that the domain has been suspended for more than 2 weeks cause a registant change. The site started to work correctly again last Thursday.

Except for this situation we did not edit anything in the last weeks. Today we tried to restore the site using softaculos, sure to solve the problem, but it did not work. The account works correctly but orders coming from the cart and emails from the contact form are not working.

Hello Donatella, you are quite welcome.

I took a look at your OpenCart settings by going to Sistema > Impostazioni in your OpenCart admin. Then clicking on Modifica and navigating to the Mail tab.

I changed the Protocollo mail: setting from Mail to SMTP so that it would't try to use the default PHP mail() function but instead authenticate normally with the SMTP server.

I filled out your contact form prior to making these changes and was unable to see any activity in the mail log on the server. After making this change I saw a message successfully go through to your account.

This should also fix the problems you were having with your orders not be emailed to you as well.

Please let us know if you're having any further problems.
