Dedicated IP pointed at Add-Domain

I asked this here:

But I thought I'd also ask it here.

How do I get a dedicated IP address for an add-on domain? And if I already have purchased a dedicated IP with InMotion, how do I assign that dedicated IP to one of my current add-on domains?

i.e. when the Dedicated IP is entered in a browser it goes to the add-domain site.

This is for domain mapping purposes.

Hi Teebird,

Thanks for posting your question. I'm more than happy to assist you today. IP addresses in the shared hosting environment are applied to the entire account not specific domains.

If you have a dedicated IP address it points to your primary domain on your account as well as all other domains such as add-ons and subdomains.

Ideally, you could look into writing an .htaccess redirect rule to re-direct any traffic from the dedicated IP address to the add-on domain. You'll need to put the .htaccess file in the root of your account.

Also, your other options are to either upgrade to a VPS where you can have multiple cPanel accounts (as each cpanel can have a separate IP address) or purchase separate hosting for the add-on domain.

I hope this helps! If you need further assistance please feel free to contact us.
